I Don’t Camouflage Website Launch :: Theme Song Feat. M1 of Dead Prez + Celia Of Les Nubians + eZra brown on the Sax w/ Special Guests
:: SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ::
New York, NY (July 12, 2011) - Camouflage - 1) To conceal or deceive by way of hiding oneself; Altering one’s appearance into something different. 2) To obscure one’s appearance in order to blend in. I Don’t Camouflage is a multimedia community project fueled by creativity and capability, performance and professionalism, real-life experience and real-life rewards. Through its educational programming and collaborative projects with creative professionals, I Don’t Camouflage aims to help young talents boost their self-esteem, spark creativity, and break out of the box into a wide-open world of productivity and possibility. To celebrate the launch of this project, founder and creative director Aiko Tanaka joined forces withM1 of Dead Prez, Celia of Les Nubians and sax player Ezra Brown to create a theme song. Produced by Pismo, this song also includes special guests Common, Kool G. Rap, Dres of Black Sheep, Sadat X of Brand Nubian, Pharoahe Monch, Jean Grae, Greg Nice, Smif N Wessun and more. These artists share the same ethos of I Don’t Camouflage, having shared their strong personalities and unique styles on stage, in the studio and in their personal lives, influencing people across genres and borders. Regarding this project, M1 adds his take: “I Don’t Camouflage means to be above average. It is the hope that the 110% that I or anybody gives will result in exemplary results. My verse in ‘I Don’t Camouflage,’ the song, also expresses an anti-war sentiment, giving respect to the members of my community who have put their lives on the line…I Don’t Camouflage means to be a pioneer of a new world. I’m a soldier of love. I Don’t Camouflage is my soul … I was delighted to be asked to collaborate with Aiko and Celia [Les Nubians]. I Don’t Camouflage is a beautiful result of good people and good ideas.” Additionally, Celia of Les Nubian comments: “It was a pleasure working with Pismo and Aiko on this song. We are the way we are and claim it because we appreciate our particularities and also the differences of others. I also love that this project includes artists from so many horizons.” “This project is very personal,” says founder Aiko Tanaka. “I have lived in different countries and regions throughout my life, and my cultural identity [Japanese], as well as my cultural zig-zagging, have strongly influenced how I carry myself. These artists have been my inspiration, and I am very blessed to be able to have them cosign on this song and project.” To listen to the song and learn more about I Don’t Camouflage, visit http://www.idontcamouflage.com
